The Firebug Blogspot Template

Its rare to find a dark template that is colourful and well made at the same time, the use of colors in the Firebug theme makes it suitable for a modern art blog. The template itself looks like a piece of art if you ask me.

Not only is it beautiful its fully functional, well designed with a header that holds not only the blog title and description but an attractive searchbar that seems to be a little out of place on this template.

Under the header is the navigation link that plays with colors yet again. A bold headline lies under it with the post date, comment count and the author following below. The labels find themselves in a post seperator at the bottom of the post after that is a bunch of social bookmarking links that you can possibly reduce, but it doesn't look ugly even with all of them.

The sidebar starts off with a single column and branches into two, there are two unique boxes, one a subscribe to RSS and the other is an advertisment box available that holds thre 125 x 125 ads. The column then breaks into two parts, where you can place your widgets as well. I am pretty sure you like this theme, go ahead and download it!

Statement Blogger Template

Another feature packed template for blogger is here, with a simple elegant design lets see what the blogspot version of the statement theme has to offer.

A big bold blog title, that has the description under it, the left of the header, the right hand side has the search bar with customizable links under it. The next section allows you to put a twitter feed in there on the left while the right has the subscribe to RSS icon.

A big post date starts the main column, the posts have neatly placed icons for the post date, comments and labels all at the top of the post. The sidebar is divided into single and double colums all on the right hand side.

The footer as well can hold a couple of links, although it would be far from the content.
This theme was originally created by Blog oh Blog and ported to blogger by Zona Cerebral that seems to be defunct for quite a while now.

Rebel Magazine Blogger Template

The two column template looks similar to Arthemia template, which we've used on one of our blogs Fractal Enlightenment. The major colours of this template are black and white.

The template design is simple and neat with an in-built RSS button and search box on the top right hand corner, which is integrated with the header. Then comes the navigation bar to place your sections, this one unlike Arthemia template doesn't have a drop down menu.

The labels, dateline and number of comments appear above the headline of your post, making it easy for the reader to select a label or category. Like many templates these days, this one too is Google AdSense friendly, with 300×250 rectangle, 250×250 square size boxes.

The right sidebar has space for 125x125 ad boxes and below are neatly outlines boxes for the remaining content.

Squick Design Blogger Template

The Squick Blogger template is a simple two column template that has an environment friendly theme, apart from the jazzy modern design on the top left corner of the blog. The header floats over the blog background with the description below it.

There is a navigation menu in what appears to be the header, the menu has a little hover on icon that pops up on the links. The navigation menu ends with rounded corners while the next section is an image where you can have you text displayed just like the blog header, its like a second header.

There is nothing more to this blog, the comments icon matches with the theme and the use of the light green font for the athor name and post date etc. The sidebar has a nice icon at the start of every line in it. The end of the template has another patch of green with a tree growing on a hillock, if you like this theme go ahead and download template it!

Techicon Blogger Theme

Four column templates are rare to find a special thanks to B-Templates.com for making this template available to us on blogger. Before we begin to dissect this template we notice that the structure of this blog is based on a simple two column structure more than a magazine template that makes it unique.

The template starts off with the main navigation in the header, with a google custom search on the right hand side. Under that is the blog title along with the description, below that we have three sections that can hold whatever you require.

The rest of the blog is divided into two main columns, in a 60:40 ratio. Where 60% comprises of your posts while the remaining 40 percent is broken up into three side bars on the right. Although there is one section that holds your advertisements on the top. I think its safe to assume there is a single sidebar column on top above these columns.

The Techicon template was designed by Blog Oh Blog and made into a blogspot template by BTemplates.

The Deep Blue theme was designed by Daily Blog Tips and ported to blogger by Blog and Web, its a simple two column template with some nice colors.

The Deep Blue Theme is a simple, yet attractive two column template. The designers have made note of every little icon and utilized some very pleasing colors to make a template that is quite gorgeous.

The blog starts off with a simple title and a description followed by an enticing search bar, you feel like using it just because it looks great. The RSS icon follows it a big bold one that makes itself clearly visible. The colorful tabs that change on a hover, along with the green background for the headlines make it very interesting.

The Missing Piece Blogger Template

An original design by Free Css Templates, converted to blogger by DaFool and I came across it on Fresh Blogger Templates. The Missing Piece makes quite an interesting template. The missing piece is a two column blogger template based on a missing piece of a jigsaw puzzel. The main colours of this template are Green, Black and Red. The noticeable missing jig saw peace makes its appearance in the header and in every individual element of the sidebar.

On your Dashboard choose blog you want to edit, Click on Layout, you’ll go direct to Template tab where blog you want to Edit.

Choose the Template tab of your blog then click on Edit HTML.

Next scroll down to the end of your page and choose Revert to Classic Template.

Copy all the code of the template you wish and paste it into your blog.

Click on SAVE TEMPLATE and you are done!.

hidding navbar

Many bloggers feel that Blogger NavBar is annoying then they try to hide or even remove it. Another reasons is sometimes NavBar spoils the look of their blog.

Then bloggers do this or do that to hide or remove it.

But does this a Blogger TOS violation?

On this help page, Blogger make a clear note that "Unless you publish your blog via FTP, the Navbar cannot be disabled".

In that case, your blog then will be locked or removed.

Then, how to do?

Me myself now prefer to let my readers choose their self whether the navbar to be displayed or hidden. I found a simple way to add a show/hide navbar button.

By copy the code from derya-webresource I put the show/hide link on the left area of menu bar. It's work, try it!.

In most cases, the HTML elements either do not or would not include keyword content, or the specific HTML is included on a Web page in spite of the fact that it is not needed or used by the Web page. It is not inappropriate to have an input type HTML statement on a Web page as part of any number of scripts, and it is not inappropriate to include keywords in such a form field. However, in "pushing HTML," some Web marketers include hidden form fields, for example, on pages where it is neither functional nor part of the Web page design. As such, it is just a hidden HTML statement stuffed with keywords. Below is a laundry list of the remaining HTML statement that can, but probably shouldn't include keywords.

# Keywords contained in an input type hidden statement (now widely considered spamming by search engines).

# Keywords included in the head statement, as a homemade HTML tag of sorts.

# Keywords improperly included in the ALT text of background images. The background of a Web page doesn't ordinary contain ALT text. However, since ALT text is generally not weighted very heavily by search engines, including your keywords in your ALT tag is unlikely to produce results better than including keywords in any ALT tag on the document.

# Keywords improperly included in a font tag

Installation:
Download the theme archive package.
Unzip the package and go to images folder. Upload all of the images to a free image host (such as imageshack.us), and write down the given links. (Help?)
Open theme.txt with a text editor (like notepad), then search for "Theme Images" and "Bookmarklet images" (without quotes).
Replace the image file names with links you have taken from your image host, and then save.
Select all text from theme.txt by pressing CTRL+A, then copy by pressing CTRL+C.
Go to "Blogger dashboard > Template", and after deleting the old codes, paste your theme code by pressing CTRL+V, then save and republish your blog. (Help?)
Notes:
(0) I advise you to disable float alignment (under "Blogger Dashboard > Settings > Formatting > Enable float alignment > No") and not to use image positioning options while uploading images, otherwise layout problems may occur. Use class="left", class="right" or class="center" instead for positioning images with float alignment.
(1) AJAX library used for the sidebar menu effect is compressed version of jQuery, and the menu effect created with the help of a sample work shown here. Although this is a very lightweight library available for creating effects like this templates has, this javascript can adversely effect your page loading times.
(2) For replacing the default Flickr badge with your own, go to Flickr Badge Creator, then create a badge from your pictures (do not waste your time with styling). After creating the badge code, only copy the line which starts with, then replace the default badge code on the template with the one you have copied.
(3) It’s a free tool offered by Google, and its nothing to do with AdSense for Search. It can only produce results for the pages indexed by Google, and may not work if your blog haven’t got any.
(4) This template has been tested with Internet Explorer 6, Opera 9, Safari 1.3, Firefox 1.5.x, and although layout seems okay with all of these browsers I suggest you to use Firefox for best performance. Combining Basic Html Tags
Perhaps you may want to combine some of the basic HTML codes above. Lets say you want to make your text bold and italic. This is what your code will look like.

Notice we have put both the bold tag <*b> and the italic tag <*i> together to give us our bold and italic text. These combinations can also be applied to color. If you would like to make your text underlined and green, this is how the tag should appear.

In all of the above code the * should be removed to make your code work correctly. The * is used to allow you to see the actual code but must be removed when placed on your site.

I taught myself HTML back in the mid-nineties and was proud of the fact that I was able to accomplish the design of fairly complex web pages with nothing more than a starter HTML book, an HTML reference book, and the knowledge I had stored in my head. But back in those days, we web designers had what looking back was a fairly limited amount of tools with which to work, and the quality (or lack thereof) of sites on the web was lackluster at best.

Fast-forward to today: The hand-coder has more powerful and intuitive software packages available that will still allow us "to get our hands dirty", which brings us to the purpose of this article. With the standardization of the much anticipated Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) in the late-nineties, the web design community has become familiar with a much more powerful and precise method of web page layout.

"But how is an old-time web coder supposed to learn CSS the easy way?!" Well, I say you should learn it the way I, and countless others, have:

1. Download the Firefox browser 2. Install the Html Validator (based on Tidy) 0.5.9 extension 3. Open one of your "old" HTML files 4. View the source, click the "Cleanup the page" button 5. Check the "replace FONT.....tags by CSS" box, then Refresh

Now you have a very neat and tidy piece of code, with all the CSS dirty work done for you! At this point you can copy & paste the resulting code and use it in your project and start figuring out what it's doing. I was amazed at how easily I was able to pick it up and start making changes on my own. When I wanted more information on a certain style it was a just a Google search away to many excellent CSS resources on the web. I find it much easier to learn CSS if I get to apply the modifications to the existing code that I've been working on, and I think you will too.

The Power of CSS

CSS or cascading style sheets are used to create a set of styles that can be applied to your fonts, tables and most other attributes of your web page. These styles allow you to create a much cleaner, faster web page that search engines love and also makes life much easier on the designer when global changes to these styles need to be applied. It is also always critical to always keep in mind your target audience and the average internet connection speed these users have. By using styles sheets to their full advantage, you can help keep your web page size down to a minimum.
When you sit down to think about the sitemap and the navigational structure of your website, you should consider using cascading style sheets wherever possible. This includes everything from your text attributes to your table padding. Each page you create should be tailored around one or two keyword phrases in order to maximize the relevancy of the content being displayed to the various internet browsers surfing your website. Using this technique allows you to have a web page which, in the search engines spiders view, only contains html and keyword rich text.

Let's use an example to illustrate the power and capability of cascading style sheets.

Graphic Buttons with Rollover: In the past we created rollover buttons using graphics programs like Adobe Photoshop and/or Macromedia Fireworks, and embedded them on our web page with all the unfriendly code that is needed for the rollover effect. The problem with doing this can be two-fold. First, search engines prefer text links because text is always optimal and you can also put your desired keywords in the text of the link, which can help boost your rankings. Images are also seen as inferior to html, since search engine spiders are not able to scan images as effectively as plain text. When you create navigation with graphical buttons, you lose out on both of these benefits and risk having some of your web pages not indexed by the search engine spiders. This is why well-optimized web pages have text links at the bottom of the page; text makes it easier for search engines to spider your site and compensate for the primary navigation menu.

CSS allows you to create these buttons without having any images visible on your html code (which is where search engines spider). Furthermore, you can embed your desired keyword phrase(s) as the text for your links. Try these steps and you will see how easy it is to simulate the rollover button effect, how much more effective your web site will be for the desired targeted keywords and how much faster your web page will be to load.

Your CSS Code: In CSS you have the ability to create a background image on a particular style. Create your table with an individual cell for each link. In your CSS styles, you need to update the a:link and a:hover styles. For the a:link, make the graphic you have created to act as your button and/or the background image for that style. Then update the font attributes so the text will be visible on top of the background image. On the a:hover style, put the over state of the button as the background of that style and update the font attributes so you can see the text on the page. This is what your actual CSS code should look like for the a:link and a:hover styles:

This effect creates the perception of a rollover image. To site visitors, it will appear to be a regular rollover button created out of two graphics. The only difference is your cascading style sheet contains the images for both states of the link. This way when search engine spiders visit your website, they will only see clean html code - without any images used for navigation - and your keyword-rich text. As well, your web page should load much faster and be compatible with anyone still using an old dial-up connection.

CSS Above and Beyond: With cascading style sheets, as outlined above, you can create the perception to the user that images are present on the actual page when they are really embedded right into your cascading style sheet. Lets take the rollover button effect one step further. Suppose you want to manipulate your web page code in a way that your relevant keyword phrase(s) appear at the top of the page. With CSS, you have the ability to do this with ease. CSS allows you not only to adjust font and color attributes, but you can also adjust the spacing and alignment of certain elements on your web page. So with this in mind, creating your table structure using

tags allows you to layout your page in a way that the search engine spiders see your important, relevant keyword phrase(s) ahead of your tables and images. The next step is to incorporate your cascading style sheet so you can still use a header designed using graphics, while placing your important keyword phrase(s) at the top of your web page which search engines love. In your style sheet, add these two styles:

As you can see, in the #header style, we have included the dimensions of the image along with including the image you want to serve as your header as the background for this style. Make sure you input the correct dimensions for the header image. This needs to be accurate as the style sheet will only display what can fit in the outlined dimensions and will also affect the spacing of your tables and web page. On the h1 style, we have indicated we do not want the text visible on the web page, rather the header image we created which is contained in the #header style. We are able to do this by using the text-indent: -100em attribute of the h1 style. You also want to include the margin attribute so you avoid any unwanted spacing underneath the text contained in the

The majority of sites designed these days have at least one form. If you're a web designer then you'll know that creating a template is essential if you are to be efficient in your work.

Many times I've compromised on a form's design due to time restrictions. Below is a template that I use and that is quite flexible in its design. This form allows for any type of input field from a simple text field to a group of radio buttons. If your quite comfortable with CSS then please feel free to adapt this code.

The fun you can have with this form can really change the way your forms look and make a great deal of difference to your overall web site design.

A Cascading Style Sheet is a set of rules that specify how a HTML document should be presented.
Cascading Style Sheets are used to format HTML. You should have at least a basic understanding of HTML before starting to learn CSS.

There are three types of style sheet: external, internal, and inline. Cascading Style Sheets get their name from the hierarchy assigned to them. The inline style sheet has the highest priority when formatting the HTML, followed by the internal style sheet, and finally the external style sheet. This means that if there are conflicting values in an inline style sheet and an external style sheet for example, only the style defined within the inline style sheet will be applied (the rest of the external style sheet will be applied as normal however).

The only major difference between style sheets is their location in relation to the document. Inline style sheets are contained within the specific element's tags, and will be only be applied to that element. Internal style sheets are included between the head tags of the document, and will only be applied to the elements within that specific document. External style sheets are separate .css documents that are applied to elements in pages that they are linked to. This makes them very useful for applying the same style to different documents. The link to the external style sheet is included in the head tags.

The CSS structure is comprised of 3 components: the selector, the property and the value. The selector defines which HTML element is being formatted. The property defines what aspect of the HTML element needs to be changed. The value specifies how the aspect will be changed.

The selector is defined first, followed by the property and the value contained between curly braces and separated by a colon, like so: Selector{property:value}

For example, if we wanted to define a 2 pixel border for all the tables in a document:

Table{border-width:2px}

Note: the word "attribute" is often used instead of "property".

The structure is slightly different for inline style sheets, as they are specific to the element in which they are contained; there is no need for the selector or the curly braces. If we wanted to define a 2 pixel border for one specific table, the tag would look like this

<'table style="border-width:2px">

(An apostrophe has been included after the starting tag to avoid being recognized as HTML).

Once you know the structure of CSS, all you need to know is the different selectors, properties and values. You define your own selectors using classes and IDs. An ID is unique and can only be used once in a document, whereas you can classify any number of elements in a document using classes. Remember not to start the name of your ID or class by a number as this not supported by some browsers. There is also a 'wildcard' selector: the asterisk *.

Berikut ini adalah langkah-langakah mengganti template klasik blogger.

Langkah-langkah atau bagaimana cara pasang/ganti template khusunya untuk template ini yang perlu anda persiapkan adalah software winrar atau apalah yang dapat meng-excract file type .rar (bila belum terinstal pada komputer yang anda gunakan).

langkahnya:
1. Klik tulisan download template classic yang ada pada sampel template pada postingan saya.
2. save pada komputer yang anda gunakan/flashdisk
3. login di blogger (seperti yang biasa anda lakukan)
4. pilih/klik layout (jika sekarang anda masih gunakan versi beta) template (untuk versi classic)
5. klik Edit HTML seperti pada gambar:

6. klik revert to classic template (bagian bawah)

7. selanjutnya kembali ke file/code yang telah di download tadi, klik 2 kali pada file template yang anda ingin pasang pada blog anda.

8. ketika anda menggunakan winrar maka tampilannya akan seperti gambar dibawah, selanjutnya anda pilih/klik excract to (icon bar urutan kedua dari kiri)

10. Nah, bila telah terbuka seperti pada gambar dibawah, silahkan tekan keyboard (Ctrl+A) maka akan terselect semua, selanjutnya klik kanan yang terselect lalu pilih copy, seperti pada gambar dibawah.

11. kembali ke Edit HTML, pada code tersebut tekan keyboard (Ctrl+A) selanjutnya tekan tombol Delete, maka akan kosong seperti gambar di bawah, bila telah kosong!! klik kanan dalam box tersebut lalu pilih paste. seperti pada gambar dibawah.

Untuk melihat atau mengecek hasil tampilannya, anda bisa klik preview.
12. terakhir pilih/klik save template changes bagian bawah.
